Neighbors Are Not Paying Their Fair Share In Property Taxes

But then, how do you know your neighbors are paying their fair share in property taxes, when we do not even have a system that makes it easy to find out what value has been set in the tax rolls for your neighbor's property. As such, you will not be able to compare and contrast the tax value being paid by your neighbor and the assessment you receive.

In this regard, some fraudulent residents go years without paying their fair share of property taxes. What tricks do they have up their sleeves? Below are some instances:

  1. First they make up false information about their houses. Then they present it during the appraisal surveys.
  2. Even when the district demands for information, they do not respond.
  3. They do not allow the county to gauge their property for tax purposes.

Is it not bizarre that the county, which should have all the information needed to assess building permit and occupancy permit - so it could be able to track the information and connect it to property assessment - is not given the maximum co-operation needed?

The end result is that these residents, who are not paying their fair share in property taxes, do not just increase the burden of the entire community, they also thwart the much needed county services from being funded.
